The Melted Easter Bunny (by Teresa)

It was on an Easter Sunday so many years ago when I was probably around the age of 10 or 11. I did not believe in the Easter Bunny any more, but mom would still set out Easter baskets for us with a lot of good candy. Our favorite was always the solid chocolate Easter bunny. It was a lot of chocolate to eat all at once which made it last a lot longer.

Mom would always let us have a couple pieces of candy, but that was all. She did not want us to make ourselves sick before Sunday service. It was always hectic Sunday mornings anyway with mom trying to get six of us ready to go to church.

In a hurry, she told us to set our baskets on the kitchen bar before leaving. In the rush, mine was sitting right in the sun. I told mom that my chocolate bunny would be melted if we did not hurry back. Mom told me not to worry. All through the service, all I could think about was getting home to see if my chocolate bunny was still a solid piece of chocolate.

I think that I must have been the first one out of the car when we got home, only to find that my bunny had melted into a chocolate syrup!
