The Long Jump
It was Summer time. My brothers, sisters, and I had decided to take
our dog, Dutchess for a walk. We walked over to the high school which
wasn't very far at all considering that it was practically in our own
back yard!
We had decided to walk as far as the front of the school. I always
liked walking on the curbs that were on our street trying to see how
well I could balance myself. What I saw in front of me were not any
curbs, but very tall walls built around the front to make a mall.
Looking up, I wanted so much to get up on top, and start walking just
like I did on the curbs at home. I had been balancing myself for
awhile, when we heard my mom call us to come home.
Watching my siblings run off without me, I jumped off of the wall to
catch up with them, forgetting how high up I really was from the ground.
After landing, I could not stand up. I had twisted my ankle in the
fall. I yelled at the others to come back and help, but they must have
not heard me. I had to hop all the way home on my good ankle.
Usually, what seemed like such a short distance to me became a much
longer one.

Joke
My mom and her sister were sitting in our front yard enjoying some
nice conversation. Walking by, I happened to hear my aunt ask mom what
kind of maple tree we had. She wanted to know if it was a hard maple or
a soft maple. I just could not resist walking up to the tree and
tapping on it. After doing so, I said "a hard maple".
One afternoon, after mom and dad had finished painting the living
room, mom asked me to use the vacuum cleaner, but to watch the wood
work. When she came back to see if I had swept yet, I was standing
there looking at the walls. Mom asked me what I was doing. I answered
by saying "Well, you asked me to watch the wood work. I have been
watching, but it isn't doing anything!
