The Disappearing Bacon
It was on a Sunday morning in May. Everyone was doing something different.
I was preparing dad's breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. I had just put
the bacon into the frying pan to cook when mom called for us to come outside
and see the hot air balloons overhead. We always looked foward to this
every May. It was an event just before the Indy 500 race.
Forgetting about the bacon, I ran outside with everyone else and admired
the sight. When everyone was finished watching, we went back inside, and I
went back to check on dad's bacon. It was gone!! I told mom. It had
evaporated into nothing because I forgot to turn off the stove! I had to
start all over again, too.

Where's The Pumpkin Pies?
Mom had just finished baking some pumpkin pies, and set them out on the
kitchen counter to cool. Everyone had something to do then, and so we left
for awhile, anticipating some delicious pie when we returned home.
After being gone for awhile, we returned home, only to find the pies were
gone! "What happened to my pies?" mom wanted to know. I know that I had
them sitting here cooling when we left". Our Cocker spaniel dog, Brucie was
no where to be found. "Now, where is Bruce?" mom wanted to know. Everyone
started looking for him, and found him lying at the back door, looking very
sick. Looking closer, mom knew exactly what happened to those pies. On
either side of Bruces belly laid one pie each! The mystery had been
solved! I don't think that he ever went near a pumpkin pie again!

The Giant Ants!
When I was three years old, I had the strangest dream! It did not seem so
strange at the time. As a matter of fact, I thaught that it was very real.
I awaken in the middle of the night, having to go to the bathroom. When
I get to my bedroom door, I see two giant ants on either side of my door. I
want to run as fast as I can to the bathroom, and then to my parents room to
tell them, but I am too scared. Seeing that there are two giant ants by my
parents door, and two by my brothers door, I was very scared. Running back
into my room, I jump into bed, and hide under the covers trembling.
The next morning, I awaken to find two of these ants are sweeping and
dusting the living room, while two other ants are fixing a delicious
breakfast of bacon and eggs. Looking again, I still cannot believe my eyes
when I see the last two lying on the couch reading the morning paper! This
of course made my happy.
Running back upstairs, I get dressed. Coming back down, I run into the
dining room where mom and dad are sitting having a cup of coffee and reading
the paper. "mom", dad! I exclaim. Did you see the giant ants! They
guarded our bedrooms last night!................................. Mom and
dad looked at me as if I had lost my mind. "No, really! I said. It was
only a dream, but for a three year old, trying to sleep in a very big house,
it seemed very real.
