The summer I went to camp was such a fun time. All of us girls boared a bus on sunday to take us on a long journey. We were headed for southern Indiana for 2 weeks to camp.
When we arrived at camp we where assingned to different cabins 6 girls to a cabin. All of the girls where from different parts of the state of Indiana. None of us knew one another in the cabin. We became instant friends after we got settled in the cabin. We were taken to the mess hall for our dinner. In time we did alot of projects in the mess hall besides eating there. We were given our assingments for the week. Every day was planned out for us something to do.
That first night we had a big camp fire. We sat around and sang songs. We told stories about ourselves .When the darker the night we started telling ghost stories. We were so scared to go back to our cabins by ourseleves. We ran as fast as we could and hid under the covers till morning.
Every morning the bells rang at 6:30 for the start of the day. By the time night came you were so tired you fell right to sleep. They had a beautiful lake on the ground. We swim in the lake just about every day. Then we learn how to row boats around the lake. I liked that too. My favorite was the nature walks on the paths in the woods. We learn about trees, flowers, and birds. You picked leaves and flowers to do our projects with.
After dinner for a couple of hours was our free time. I usually went back on the nature paths.On Friday night I did just that. I went on a path that I never was on before. Something happened to me. I fell down and fell into Poison Ivy. The Poison Ivy got all over me. I got up and hurried back to camp. I told the consellor what had happened. Sure I got into trouble. For the next 2 days I had to be all myself with pink lotion on me to stop the iching from the Poision Ivy. On sunday afternoon my dad came and picked me up to take me home. I had to go back earlier than expected.
I sure enjoyed that week at camp meeting new friends. All the fun I had there.Even If I did get Poison Ivy all over me.
