Three Main Themes to Consider for the 7/11 Upper House Election
Japan's future hinges on these issues: #1. The decisions of Naoto Kan's
administration; #2. Evaluating the DPJ since it took power after the
8/30/2009 election; #3. A 10% consumption tax and economic policy
The public will weigh in on three important themes in the July 11
upper-house vote.
The first is to evaluate Naoto Kan's administration thus far. The
administration has offered the public next to nothing with which to evaluate
its judgment. It's a sneaky approach and it goes against the fundamentals of
a democratic system. The voters are left with no other choice but to judge
Prime Minister Kan based on his sly tactics.
The second theme is to evaluate the work of the Democratic Party of
Japan since it took over the government in September 2009 under former Prime
Minister Yukio Hatoyama and the Ozawa-Hatoyama system. Just because Hatoyama
and Ichiro Ozawa have moved behind the scenes doesn't mean we should forget
the harm they inflicted on us.
The third theme is to evaluate the issue of a 10% consumption tax and
economic policy. It's a question of which should have priority, our
livelihoods or state finances.
The Japanese people need to weigh in on these three issues.
A Kan government is a neoconservative, fiscal reform and political-power
grabbing government.
